FOREWORD

The International Summer Academy aims at developing into a portal for
musical activities with lecturers and course participants within the
framework of a united Europe.
It comprises courses and lectures held by internationally renowned
artists and teachers. The participants are offered the opportunity for
instruction by experienced lecturers and can present their works, as
prepared during the courses, to a public audience.
The SAL will take place for the 32th time. The opening will be
celebrated on June 30th, 2013.

The official opening will be held by governor Dr. Erwin Pröll. In the
evenening a concert with orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven,
directed by Karen De Pastel, takes place.
A series of traditional festive masses and special concerts by course
participants in various atmospheric halls of the monastery also
promise to convey musical enjoyment of high quality. Lectures and
public discussions concerning musical topics round off a versatile
picture of a dynamic summer academy. These performances and the
musical depth achieved by the exchange of ideas have a high
educational value and they create, after the motto „Europeans Build
Bridges“, cultural and inter-human relationships between all five
continents.

DIR. PROF. MAG. DR. H. C. KAREN DE PASTEL
